Students’ Ability In Retelling English Story

Abstract


Retelling is done to make sure the reader understood the story through this research, the writer tried to analyze the students’ ability at the third year students in retelling English stories by categorizing their problems into five criteria. They are pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. This resarch is descriptive qualitative while the writer described an analyzed the students ability in retelling English stories. The population of this research was the third year students at SMP N 2 Pangkalan Lesung. The number of students who has been studying at the third year is about 30 students and writers choose 10 students as a sample. The result of analysis show that there 9 students get score around 60-79 categorized into average to good level, and 1 students get score around 50-59 categorized into poor to average level. 7 students get score around 60-79 categorized into average to good level, and 3 students get score around 50-59 categorized into poor to average level. 7 students get score around 60-79 categorize into average to good level, and 3 students get score 50-59 categorized into poor to average level.
