Picture Word Inductive Model (Pwim) Strategy In Writing Descriptive Paragraph

Abstract


This research has objective to find out the effect of PWIM toward writing descriptive paragraph at SMP N 1 Ujung batu. This research is an experimental research. Experimental researches which purpose of examine the cause and the effect after the treatment was being done toward experimental group and control group. This research was conducted into six treatments. Each treatment consisted of one picture based on the topic. Because this research was conducted at Junior High School, in one meeting took 2 x 40 minutes. Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) strategy could make students more creatively in learning. Because students are using pictures relate to content material under study, they feel a part of the classroom community and can participate in class activities. Total score of the control group at the pre test was 283 points with the mean was 8.0, while the total score of the control group at the post test was 322 points with the mean was 9.2 points. Their score at the post test effect by 39 point from the pre test by mean only 1.2 points. Their score effect from the pre test to the post test because of learning process through without PWIM strategy by the teacher, but their effect was less than the effect by the experimental group which was taught by PWIM strategy. It indicated that PWIM strategy could be more useful and obviously there was effect of the scores of the experimental group in writing descriptive paragraph better than the conventional teaching that’s mean without PWIM strategy did to the control group.
