Increasing Students’ Mastery by Using Realia

Abstract

This research was conducted to the use of realia to the students’ vocabulary mastery. The writer only focused on students’ ability in pronounced the words, spelled the words and put the words into a good sentence. As the sample of this research were the students of the third year class by total students were 27. This study tries to describe to what extend realia can increase the students’ vocabulary mastery and how does realia increase the students’ vocabulary mastery of the third year at SDN 87 Pekanbaru. This research is a classroom action research. In this research, the writer found that there was an increasing in each indicators of the students’ vocabulary mastery, where the increasing in pronounced the word was 15% (from 61 become 76), spelled the word was 10% (from 63 become 77), and put the word into a good sentence was 13% (from 64 become 77). The findings shows that students’ vocabulary mastery based on the provided indicators got better increased in each cycle of the research. Based on the findings and discussion, it can be concluded that Realia better to increase the students’ vocabulary mastery of the third year at SDN 87 Pekanbaru.
